Schott Communities, a nonprofit, located in Cooper City, is offering a special Saturday program for developmentally disabled adults, age 18 and up. This program offers education and recreation opportunities for these very special folks.
The program runs from 9 am to 3 PM Saturdays at the above address. This program includes socializing, physical fitness, and developing life skills. Participants do some academic work supervised by a special needs teacher, but they also work in arts and crafts. Another exercise involves them using a computer to write their life story. Ballroom dancing, , yoga and art will also be featured.
One of the key aspects of the pilot program is to give young adults the opportunity to interact with each other.
