The next Cooper City Commission Meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 6 PM at City Hall.
Item 10 on the Agenda was put in by Comm. Lisa Mallozzi. A discussion and direction regarding the naming of a Susan Bernard Memorial.
Susan Bernard was the City Clerk for approximately 30 years when she retired last year. She passed away not too many months later.
Comm. Mallozzi suggests two locations to memorialize Ms. Bernard: 1. The historical rooms at the Pool and Tennis Center and 2. The Passive Park located on the property of City Hall and the Community Center on 51st Street.
Gladys Wilson knows that Ms. Bernard started collecting the items and information for the Historical Rooms many, many years ago. Ms. Wilson knew many of the residents who worked with Ms. Bernard on this project as well. They were all very devoted to this project.
Ms. Wilson, in taking a consensus of several of those folks still in the area, said the results were to name the Historical Rooms at the Pool and Tennis Center in honor of Ms. Bernard.
