Cooper City - Traditions - Does the City have any Traditions anymore?

While driving west on Stirling Road past the High School this morning(Sunday, Valentine's Day) then north on Flamingo to Griffin and east on Griffin to 90th Avenue, a thought occurred to me:  Does Cooper City have any Traditions any longer?

My first response was, "No!".  Anything that was a tradition has now been made into an ordinance and is no longer a simple tradition but now a "law" to be enforced.

It was a tradition for the Realtors to put their "open house" signs up on Saturday morning.  No one was alarmed or annoyed by them because they were there for Saturday and Sunday only.
The signs were accepted!  No problem!

Now, someone is giving the realtors problems over their "open house" signs and calls Code Enforcement on the realtor.

The tradition has been replaced by law enforcement and fussy
neighbors.

We want those houses sold as quickly as possible in this horrid economic period of no sales and foreclosures.  We should be helping our neighbors houses get sold not hindering them through law enforcement and fines.

Over the years,  the High School has been used as a church home for newly formed churches.  The Church put their signs up on the school's fence on the morning of their services and removed the signs after the services.  This was an accepted practice because the church did not abuse its  use of the signs on the fence--usually one or two.  A tradition of long standing being put into question because of  abuse by  a recently  formed church and introduction of Code Enforcement.

The Optimists have put their seasonal athletic signs up throughout the City with no problems because we all love and respect their goals for our children in Cooper  City.    This is a very long accepted Tradition in Cooper City.  The signs are removed as quickly as the particular season's  recruitment is over.  The Optimists have not abused their privilege of placing the signs throughout our City.

Traditions at our City's business meetings, the Commission Meetings, have been radically changed or deleted.  The residents  no longer feel welcome to attend the meetings to speak out on their City concerns.  The Mayor and two Commissioners who created the changes in the last two years treat us like puppets while they pull the strings.  They want us to  sing and dance their way or not at all.  Their conduction of City Business is mostly not at all proper or conducted under the Mayor's own "new" rules.

Now, those of us who have lived under the "Someplace Special" years are not at all happy about seeing our City's Traditions disappearing, one by one, to make our City "No place Special"!

What Traditions do you see disappearing?  Click on COMMENTS and let us hear from you.
