I have been awakened at least four times since midnight tonight by a vehicle roaring up and down 90th avenue with excessively loud mufflers and speeding along with the roar.
I finally decided I had enough and would go through the hell it takes to get to someone at BSO DOWNTOWN dispatch: BSO generously gives me a series of choices about bail, bonds, foreclosures, jail hours, when I can eat and when not to eat, etc, etc, etc, and FINALLY, Number 5 is an opportunity to talk to someone who then gives me the same orders I got at the beginning of the call about if this is an emergency....do you think I would have sat through the hogwash of numbers if I really had an emergency? NO I would not!
Cooper City residents were promised we would have our own dispatch service in Cooper City in 2004. This is a valuable service to many residents and our tax dollars pay for it.
I have been really annoyed over this closing of our dispatch and now you are learning about my annoyance. Because it was closed in absolute secrecy!
WE PAY FOR IT, WE GET IT!!! The residents should not be deprived of that service! When we make a call for a deputy, we want to IMMEDIATELY talk to someone who is familiar with Cooper City, who knows who Gladys Wilson is and where 90th Avenue is. Not some person who has a job and doesn't care a whit about anything else in the world except when they get off work and when they get their paycheck!!!
When I called 911 last Saturday night because my husband had fallen and was lying on the cold terrazzo tile floor, do you think I wanted to be treated like a knuckle headed person? I was calm and attempting to get an ambulance not tell her our life's history first. That could come later when I needed to do so. MY HUSBAND WAS LYING ON THE FLOOR, I DIDN'T KNOW IF HE HAD A STROKE OR WHAT, I WANTED AN AMBULANCE AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AND DID NOT WANT A CHAT WITH A CUP OF TEA WITH A STRANGER WHILE I WAITED. WHILE WAITING, I HAD TO:
I had to put the dogs safely into another room so they were out of the way and could not get out, I had to unlock and open the door so they could get into the house FAST, I had to comfort Ray and still talk on the phone with the operator(who was very nice to me as I was to her)I had to push the diningroom table over so the gurney could get through to the bedroom BUT in MY sense of MY emergency, I didn't want to mess around, I wanted that ambulance immediately--like right now! And I wanted them to be able to get into the house fast to get to Ray!!!
AND, I did not care about your budgets and how you can save money--on our back--I want our Dispatch service back. I want those folks to have their jobs, I want to talk directly to you, Mr. Loucks and to you, Chief Hale and get this situation resolved-- and the resolution is to get our dispatch personnel back on the job without that cruddy downtown BSO service with the numbers game which I never want to have to play again. AM I MAKING MYSELF CLEAR TO YOU?
WE PAY FOR IT, WE GET IT--NO EXCUSES! THAT DEAL WAS MADE IN 2004 AND THAT DEAL IS WHAT THE RESIDENTS OF COOPER CITY WANTED AND DESERVE!
Mr. Loucks, if you have to re-write the 2010-11 Budget to get our dispatch back--do it because NO ONE EVER MENTIONED THAT WE WERE LOSING OUR COOPER CITY DISPATCH SERVICE AT A MEETING, OUT LOUD SO WE COULD HEAR IT AND DISCUSS IT.
IT IS CALLED TRANSPARENCY--THAT THING WHICH COOPER CITY ADMINISTRATORS SEEM TO THINK WE DO NOT WANT OR NEED. THE RESIDENTS WANT IT AND WE NEED IT.
I will meet with you whenever you set up the appointment.
It is now 3:13 am and I do hope you understand very clearly how I feel about getting our Cooper City Dispatch back into operation as quickly as possible!
Thank you.
