The Cooper City Free Community Bus was cancelled on July 8th with no proper notice to the residents who depended upon it.
Why did we lose it? because the Mayor, City Manager and Ken Richardson did NOTHING to keep it running until September 30. The Mayor and Commissioners signed a Resolution last year to keep the Bus running until Sept. 30! You can see how great their written word is! Commissioner Sims was the person who brought up the Resolution BUT NOTHING was accomplished by doing so. The Mayor, City Manager and Ken Richardson did not care enough about our Cooper City Seniors, residents, and school children to keep the Bus running until Something Could BE Accomplished in the '10/'11 Budget!
July 28th at 10 am at City Hall will be a meeting moderated by Steven Person, geriatric consultant. The discussion will entail 1. How do we get more Seniors to participate in the Community Center activities? 2. How does the City acctract additional Over-60 Folks to participate in the activities at the Community Center?
3. What new activities and programs do the Over-60 Group wish to see at the Community Center?
4. How do we increase participation, Monday thru Friday, in the delicious hot lunch program at the Community Center?
Most important: if you increase the participation at the Community Center, HOW WILL THE OVER-60 Group- GET THERE? Walk? Roller Blade? Ride their bikes?
Be serious, Blogger! The Over-60-Group NEEDS the Free Community Bus to get there!
Call: 954-434-4300, Ex. 224, or e mail City Hall: bloucks@coopercitylf.org.
Let them hear from you! Attend the Senior Forum on the 28th. Let's get that Free Bus Running in our City once more!
