Cooper City Residents: Has Your Health, Safety and Welfare been jeopardized?

Aug. 17, The Cooper City Commission voted "Yes" for a change in the agreement with Davie Police and Fire/EMS.  Davie recently voted "NO" to going with BSO but will retain their own Police and Fire/EMS Departments.  Which are known to be very outstanding!

This Blogger thinks there is a bit of ODOR surrounding this deal because:  Cooper City is to have one full-time BSO fire/paramedic and one ambulance added to our Cooper City equipment from Southwest Ranches.  In return, Cooper City will provide Southwest Ranches  with our Fire/EMS services, if needed.

BUT:  last year there were 231 EMS calls in Cooper City answered by Davie.  Does this additional one ambulance and one fire/paramedic  have the ability to assist Cooper City's residents  with possibly more than 231 emergency calls next year?

If our equipment is in West Southwest Ranches, who will take care of our Cooper City emergency calls?  The western part of the Ranches is a long distance from Cooper City and the roads are not that great.  Do we have to remain with BSO and wait until Weston's BSO emergency equipment can get here?

Or, will Davie's non-BSO services be called in to assist?

At this point in the Blog let me explain something:  We have lived in Cooper City nearly 27 years with Davie being our alternative source of service, if needed!  Knowing Davie's Police and Fire/EMS as well as we do, we NEVER doubted they would be here for us in a flash!  We never worried or had any concern about Davie's ability to fill the bill!  Why make this change?  Is it in retaliation against Davie because they did NOT go with BSO?  HUMMMMM!  You think?

BUT, one additional ambulance and one additional  BSO Fire/EMS person added to our Department does not make this Blogger feel comfortable at all.  This Blogger does not doubt the training and ability of this additional  BSO person BUT I do doubt that this addition is  enough to make me feel comfortable that the residents of Cooper City are truly  going to get the  fastest EMS care and, in the case of a stroke, the faster the care arrives, the better the chances to fully recover!

Which leads me back to the odor in this situation.  Why was Comm. Neal de Jesus "assisting" Sheriff Lamberti in writing a contract for whatever?  It would seem to me that Sheriff Lamberti has all the professional  and legal personnel to assist him with any contract writing which he might need to do.

Why was Comm. de Jesus driving around in a BSO vehicle?  Why was Comm. de Jesus saying that he was "volunteering"  his time to Sheriff Lamberti?  actually, he was being compensated by the use of a BSO vehicle, wasn't he?  The use of a vehicle is considered a form of compensation in the business world and income tax purposes.

Was Cooper City Comm. de Jesus "volunteering his time" writing the contract agreement between Southwest Ranches and Cooper City?  If any of my questions are answered in the affirmative then I want to know why he is volunteering his time to Sheriff Lamberti and NOT ATTENDING TO COOPER CITY COMMISSION BUSINESS FOR WHICH HE IS PAID?   PAID BY THE COOPER CITY RESIDENTS TAX DOLLARS, TOO!  As is Sheriff Lamberti's BSO operation paid out of our  tax dollars which we  pay to Broward  County!

The Commissioners made clear on the 17th before their vote that the Ranches were in agreement with this change.  If I lived in the Ranches, I would agree to the change as well.  They will have all of BSO Cooper City at their disposal,  a rather large BSO operation here!

Does anyone else detect an odor?
